Description

Touche Amore Lament Orange Vinyl

The quality of Touché Amoré’s output has never been in question, and yet sometimes this band of ordinary men with extraordinary understanding of their craft has often been obscured by some of modern rock’s flashier voices. It would be cruel, and indeed, unlikely if ‘Lament’ didn’t change that. It’s unthinkable that the record won’t take the band to new audiences. This isn’t merely a record by a good band. This is a record by an important one that is now teetering on the edge of greatness. (NME)

‘Lament’ consequently feels like an assured breakout; removed from a concept, it’s a svelte and streamlined take on the tried and trusted. A through narrative may be missing, but it only means the songs – rather than the ideas – take centre stage. On the likes of ‘Feign’ and ‘Deflector’, the results are truly dazzling. (Upset 10/10)

At this stage it’s probably clear what I think of this record. It’s another masterpiece by a band who have an extraordinary ability to instil and extract emotion from those they seek to connect with. Album closer “A Forecast” is an undeniable highlight and again, doesn’t really sound like anything the band have written before, yet is quintessential Touché Amoré. I won’t spoil the lyrics for you because it’s a tear-jerking, gut-punch of a song, that almost as a microcosm of the album, covers harrowing occurrences but focuses on the growth and maturation they have brought whilst retaining an honesty and optimism that is nothing short of life-affirming. It’s time to start talking about this band as they are: one of the best we’ve got. (PunkNews.org)

Touche Amore and Deafheaven’s co-headline tour back a while ago was one of our highlight of the gigging year. This was at the Garage in Glasgow and was astounding. Check out the new live album from Deafheaven below at Strip Joint Records.
